Kevin Hernandez


Kevin Hernandez is a partner with ScottMadden where he specializes in the grid edge and energy storage. Since joining the firm in 2012, he has consulted with a variety of transmission and distribution utility clients on issues ranging from post-merger integration to distributed energy resources. Kevin earned a B.A. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, an M.A. from the U.S. Navy War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He is also an eight-year veteran of the United States Navy.

  • Designed and implemented changes to online and outage work management processes at a major nuclear operator to increase scope stability, more closely align scheduled work to available resources, and reduce the amount of work dropped between scope selection and execution. Stood up a team to recover dropped work, reducing churn and increasing ready work execution
  • Project managed the design and implementation of tools, processes, and governance needed to reduce the number of nuclear plant planned-maintenance work orders generating with parts holds due to incorrect Cat IDs on model work orders at a major nuclear generator
  • Supported the standup and operations of a program management office (PMO) during the redesign of a major northwestern utility’s budgeting and accounting systems and processes, including the return to standard of the organization’s budget, finance, and controlling SAP enterprise resource planning suite

  • Performed an analysis of the financial reconciliation process of a top 10 public university. Identified process improvements which resulted in a 41% reduction of reconciliation transaction volume and the streamlined management of more than $600 billion in assets per year
