Challenge

A large vertically integrated utility with multiple business units sought to improve outage planning within its Generation organization. The existing process relied heavily on manual review of past outage data, spreadsheets, and siloed reports—making it difficult to identify performance trends, assess root causes of delays, and proactively plan upcoming outages. Inconsistent data access and the absence of advanced analytics created bottlenecks, limiting the ability to optimize schedules, resources, and budgets. Leadership partnered with ScottMadden to explore AI-enabled tools that could analyze historical outage performance, surface lessons learned, and deliver actionable insights — all without committing to long, costly development cycles.
