ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, recently joined industry leaders as a presenter and sponsor for the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Strategic Issues Roundtable. The conference provided an opportunity for industry leaders to discuss the key issues facing the electric power industry, including strategic workforce planning.
The utility model and our business and public policy ecosystem are changing. The labor market in which we compete and the terms of competition are also changing. Tactical workforce planning needs are becoming more important as organizations look ahead three, five, or even 10 years out. What are your workforce needs today? What will they be tomorrow?
During the event, Stuart Pearman, partner and energy practice leader at ScottMadden, and Courtney Jackson, partner and human capital management practice lead at ScottMadden, addressed the top five questions on every executive’s mind: What is changing? Why is it changing? Who is involved? Where do we start? How do we transition?
“We really enjoyed and appreciated the engagement and input of utility strategic thinkers at the Roundtable. They were insightful in brainstorming the competencies needed for the utility of the future. They also had great ideas about innovation across the employee life cycle to attract, keep, and grow these workers,” said Mr. Pearman.
“The Roundtable provided an opportunity to hear from top leaders how technology disruptions are shifting the industry in so many ways, which was a perfect backdrop to our changing workforce discussion. The group left us with key takeaways to consider in our workforce planning efforts of the future,” added Ms. Jackson.
