Challenge

One of the country’s largest investor-owned utilities was having trouble hiring and retaining Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) talent. There was a high level of variation in titles, job requirements, education requirements, and job descriptions across the utility’s plants. Furthermore, the organizational structure provided limited opportunity for career progression for team members. ScottMadden was retained to evaluate the client’s approach to attract, develop, and retain I&C staff and identify both short- and long-term improvements for the I&C organization.
