ScottMadden to Chair Infocast’s Transmission Summit

February 20, 2012 | Atlanta, GA

Expert panels will discuss top issues such as integrating renewables and cost allocation

ScottMadden, Inc., a leading North American energy consulting firm, is pleased to again sponsor Infocast’s 15th Annual Transmission Summit in 2012. This event will take place Wednesday, February 29–Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Almas Temple Club in Washington, D.C. The event will explore strategies for dealing with the emerging regulatory environment.

Cristin Lyons, partner and leader of ScottMadden’s transmission, distribution, and smart grid practice, will chair the Executive Forum. “This year’s conference addresses some of the most important challenges the industry is facing right now: the impacts of FERC Order 1000 on transmission planning and cost allocation, the changing landscape of generation, and the financing of transmission projects,” says Ms. Lyons.

ScottMadden’s Rick Starkweather, partner, and Josef Niedermuller, managing associate, will chair two panel discussions at the Summit. Mr. Starkweather’s panel, Organized Markets’ Perspectives on Regional Planning’s Implications for Transmission Siting and Investment, will explore transmission planning based on FERC Order 1000: progress to date and challenges still to be resolved. Mr. Niedermuller will moderate the panel, Impacts of Regional Planning on Resource Integration and Reliability, which will discuss the impacts of the enhanced regional planning process envisioned by FERC Order 1000 on resource integration and reliability.

Additionally, Todd Williams, director at ScottMadden, will present Supply Trends – What Are the Impacts on Transmission? This discussion will focus on important developments in generation and how they will impact transmission. “Changes in the generation space are expected to come at an unprecedented pace and stress the nation’s power grid in ways never before experienced,” said Mr. Williams.
