Case Study: Global Headquarters Site Selection Study

ScottMadden performed a site selection study for the division of a global logistics company interested in relocating its worldwide headquarters.

• The client was interested in relocating the global headquarters for one of its recently acquired subsidiaries
• The client was charged with evaluating suitable locations for the new global headquarters, but did not have the information readily available to conduct the study
• ScottMadden was retained to collect and analyze economic and quality-of-living data for viable cities and provide a site selection recommendation for its central headquarters location
  
  

• Identified a list of potential locations
• Developed site selection screening criteria based on client input regarding important/critical characteristics
• Developed a site selection recommendation matrix for further city research and narrowed the list of potential sites
• Defined further evaluation criteria to narrow the focus of pre-screening criteria
• Ranked the cities based on the evaluation criteria and analyzed evaluation scores
• Developed a recommendation for the global headquarters location based on the evaluation criteria rankings

• Recommended location for the subsidiary's new global headquarters
• Enabled the client to provide a solid methodology behind the recommended location to its board of directors
• Provided client with all site selection reference data, including country rankings, economic and quality-of-life information for future research, if needed
