Career Progression
Consultants are not assigned to any particular practice area within the firm. Instead, we expect them to be capable of
performing well on any assignment, and we strive to provide them a broad range of consulting experiences. Once they reach
manager level, however, we encourage them to select an area of interest specific to an industry, practice area, or project
type.
ScottMadden serves its clients with five levels of consultants: associates, senior associates, managing associates, directors, and partners. There is no minimum service required at each level, and the partners consider consultant promotions each quarter. Promotions are performance-based and typically realized when a consultant has demonstrated the ability to achieve the next level of success, including the ability to bill at a higher rate.
Qualifications and Experience
The majority of our consultants have M.B.A. degrees and significant work experience. When a consultant joins us at the associate level,
however, experience in consulting or a particular functional area or industry is not required. When we hire at levels above associate,
we seek a combination of consulting and/or industry experience. Experience in one or more of our three major practice areas—energy, shared
services and outsourcing—is also highly regarded. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
ScottMadden is an Equal Opportunity employer, and the firm has established a documented Affirmative Action program.
