Laura Poindexter, Managing Associate

Laura Poindexter joined ScottMadden in 2005. Her consulting experience spans a number of areas, including operations improvement and process design, shared services design, business case development, and organizational design. Prior to joining ScottMadden, Ms. Poindexter worked in product development for PPG Industries. Ms. Poindexter earned an M.B.A from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and a B.S. in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

  • Developed a plan for a defense contractor to launch an HR shared services organization, which included conducting a current state activity and cost analysis, designing a future state HR service-delivery model, and developing the associated business case and implementation plans
  • Developed a detailed business case and corresponding project plan for implementing an HR shared services delivery model for a global technology company
  • Led process teams in the redesign and standardization of global HR processes for a large diversified manufacturing company, identified and documented key businesses requirements, and oversaw incorporation in the design of a new manager self-service tool
  • Developed a low-cost, multi-year strategic marketing initiative for a non-profit organization that led to expansion of the membership base, increased customer retention, and broader brand awareness Analyzed regional differences in the new service delivery process for a large electric utility, and designed a standard, streamlined process leveraging technology and increasing customer satisfaction
  • Identified and documented processes and implementation requirements for an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment, and conducted a cost/benefit analysis to assess the incorporation of AMI remote connect/disconnect switches for a large electric utility
  • Redesigned processes and developed and implemented supporting tools for a payroll tax department, which led to significant automation improvements, time savings, and FTE reductions
  • Completed an organization redesign for a 400-person energy company by conducting a current state assessment through interviews and analysis, evaluating organization design alternatives, and implementing a detailed selection process to objectively evaluate and track individuals affected by the reorganization
  • Researched outsourcing trends and arrangements, conducted extensive market analysis, and evaluated the competitiveness of the outsourcer’s wage and benefits program to aid in determining whether a proposed outsourcing arrangement was at market standard
  • Performed a detailed financial analysis of each step in the value chain to determine profitability and aid in assessing the benefits and risks of forward integration for a large chemical company
  • Modeled a business segment’s future cash flow by evaluating market trends, historical performance, and competitors’ positioning to determine whether to divest the business
