John Sequeira

Partner

John Sequeira is a partner at ScottMadden, Inc. and has more than 30 years of domestic and international consulting experience. John has extensive knowledge of strategic planning, financial planning, operations improvement, and information technology enablement. He has conducted consulting projects in the United States, Europe, Central and South America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining the firm, John served as vice president and national director for Nuclear Generation Consulting at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and was a partner with the predecessor firm of Ernst & Young LLP. He received a B.S. from the University of Santa Clara (Magna Cum Laude), an MPA from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver, and a Ph.D. in economics from GSIS/University of Denver. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society.

Recent Assignments
  • Led multiple benchmarking and leading practice projects across different industries over the past 20+ years.  Responsible for developing ScottMadden’s leading practices database and methodology for quantitatively assessing a company’s shared services maturity level against industry leading practices
  • Implemented a national benchmarking consortium focused on materials management performance metric comparisons across 264 performance metrics and four different industry segments
  • Advised a large southwest investor-owned utility in a comprehensive leading practice assessment of its procure-to-pay (P2P) process. Led multiple teams in identifying improvement opportunities and then tying these to configuration options related to ERP package implementation
  • Served as engagement executive responsible for re-engineering the budgeting and financial planning process for a Fortune 500 company.   The results included better alignment between the corporate business strategy and annual budgets, improved allocation of O&M and capital resources, implementation of a modified balanced scorecard, approach to performance management, reduced process cost, and improved user satisfaction
  • Served as engagement executive for a comprehensive information technology security assessment for the largest privately held cement manufacturing company in North America.  This review assessed all aspects of software, network, hardware, and facilities security.  The project team subsequently assisted the client in addressing the identified security weaknesses
  • Completed a comprehensive assessment of the procure-to-pay (P2P) process for a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company, including observations, findings, and recommendations for improvement
  • Evaluated the business processes within the finance division of a large global oil company.  Supervised a project team which documented and redesigned many of the major financial and accounting processes within this multi-billion dollar enterprise and developed a comprehensive, four-volume, company-wide accounting manual covering all oil and gas operations
  • Served as engagement executive responsible for conducting an internal controls review of a large East Coast utility’s implementation of PeopleSoft HR modules.  The project team identified required audit records and process controls, developed self-service and electronic signature audit strategy, and developed a data reconciliation strategy
