Brad Kitchens

President and CEO


Brad Kitchens is president and CEO of ScottMadden, Inc.  With nearly 25 years of business and consulting experience, he has worked extensively in the energy sector on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, operations improvement, business planning, outsourcing, and corporate finance.   Brad routinely works with energy organizations and their executives on strategic matters such as strategy development and support, earnings growth, capital planning, operational performance, and sustainability.  Prior to joining the firm, Brad consulted for several years with Deloitte & Touche specializing in its capital markets practice.  He also spent several years in the oil and gas industry.  Brad received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he graduated with top honors and was recognized as a Fuqua Scholar.

  • Member of U.S. Technical Advisory Group in development of new International Energy Management System Standard (ISO 50001)
  • Worked closely with an IOU’s executive leadership and BOD on corporate strategy and reorganization
  • Led a corporate strategic planning initiative for a multi-billion dollar utility.  Reported to BOD
  • Analyzed and presented energy industry trends to the BOD for a major IOU
  • Led the review and recommendation of a 10-year strategic capital program for a major IOU
  • Assisted with synergy identification and associated integration planning for a major utility merger
  • Provided post-merger integration planning and value preservation assistance for an energy industry acquisition
  • Led a comprehensive generation playbook project for a leading United States-based IOU. This project focused on major operational, organizational, and technical aspects of power plant and support operations
  • Identified sourcing (outsourcing and alliance) candidates for sales, procurement and delivery, billing and collections, and customer service for a new business venture within a large utility
